Absolutely right. Why don't we get to vote for President? We get to vote for every other office.

In most states, we shouldn't even bother to vote for President because the polls can tell us that the outcome is already a foregone conclusion. For example, if you live in Wyoming, there is no point in voting because the state's three electoral college votes have gone to the Republican candidate in every Presidential election in the last fifty years.

By the way, the population of Wyoming, with its three electoral college votes, is about 500,000. That is about the same population as the mostly African-American South Central community in Los Angeles that has only one electoral college vote. Therefore, a vote in a small Republican state like Wyoming carries three times the electoral college voting power of the mostly Democratic big cities like LA. No wonder the Republicans in congress fight like tigers to hold onto the archaic and unfair electoral college Presidential voting system.

: I haven't commented on this forum before but the discussion about how presidents stack the supreme court always reminds me that Bush DID NOT win the election. Nationwide, Gore won by 543,895 votes. It was only the absolutely ridiculous electoral college that declared Bush the winner. Created to tip the election balance toward the slave states, the electoral college is an absurd way to choose a president. The candidate that wins the most votes should be the president. Wake up everybody. We need to get rid of the stupid, absurd, and unfair electoral college NOW!
