I researched the twelve writers referenced in the article. From the reader comments at Amazon.com, it seems that some are good and some are not so good. But if they are "innovative," that is always good. I'm not familiar with Murdock's innovative novels, so I also checked them out. At Amazon, I read the first few chapters of the one titled "Psalm for Cock Robin." Very weird, but fun. I ordered it. Thanks for turning me onto him.

: The Guardian has published a good article that talks about the evolution of narrative techniques in today’s literature (http://www.theguardian.com/books/2011/feb/25/literary-fiction-twelve-best-new-novelists).

: It says more experimental techniques are finding their way into mainstream novels as a way to tell stories better. It has led to new types of popular novels like Doc Murdock's "Psalm for Cock Robin" which uses dual protagonists that exist within one head and his "My Vietnam War" that uses first, second, and third person to represent a soldier’s mind spiraling down into PTSD (both books are advertised at the bottom of this page).
