: : : I expect I already know the answer to this questions (no), but has anybody on this forum read Wittgenstein’s Mistress by David Markson? If so, what do you think?

: : What about "conceptual" writing, such as the writing of Kenneth Goldsmith? What do those on this forum think of "appropriated" texts?

: Because it is called "poetry," most will compare it to traditional poetry; that is, one person's personal statement. But depending on how it is configured, it may be that kind of personal statement - in the same sense as performance art.

Many "real" poets are resentful that these "conceptual" poets are getting all the headlines. Personally, I don't think "real" poetry or not real poetry is the issue. I think the people who are paying so much attention to them are people that are not really interested in poetry.
