: : Anybody read Anand Gopal's new book, “No Good Men Among the Living”? He's a reporter and the book is about the US war in Afghanistan, but it's written from the point of view of the Afghan people he met there. I saw him on CSPAN's book TV, and it sounds like he really knows what went on when the US invaded Afghanistan.

: I haven't read the book yet, but I'm going to. Apparently it does a good job of explaining how the US completely bungled the war.

Bungled? Sounds to me like it was the perfect war. It got Bush reelected, created out of thin air a pile of new medals and promotions for the military leaders, made lots of money for the military-industrial complex just for torturing and killing lots and lots of non-white foreigners (who, after all, are not real humans like us).
