The Booker the top prize?

I noticed this site published the nominees for the Man Booker prize for fiction? (See http://www.fictionweek.com/news1.html).

In my opinion, this should be the top award for fiction every year, but it doesn't get the press other awards like the National Book Award get. Anybody know why?
