How about this one: A former postal worker writes a novel, get rejected by everybody, but finally gets it published and this week she wins the top prize at the Costa Book Awards. Catherine O'Flynn won the First Novel Award for "What Was Lost," a story about a security guard who spots a person who has been missing for 20 years. The author worked at various full-time jobs while writing the novel. Hope for us all? It was published in England. No US publishers interested as yet.
