: : : David Foster Wallace - Infinite Jest

: : A great book, but he is not currently writing. He hung himself on September 12, 2008.

: True, but he is still being published. His posthumous unfinished novel, The Pale King, came out not long ago.

As a writer, I can't imagine anything more horrible than somebody publishing my unfinished novel. He was a good enough writer that had he lived, he probably would have thrown much of it out and started over. But I guess for today's publishers, it's all about the almighty dollar. They don't care if a novel is any good, only if it will make money.

: : : : Okay, now we know about the best new young novelists. Who do you all think is the best not-so-young currently writing novelist? Which book convinced you?

: : : : Me, I'd go with Margaret Atwood for her new novel "Oryx and Crake."
