Personally, I thought last year's list of Booker finalists represented a much stronger group of writers: Hilary Mantel, J.M. Coetzee, A.S. Byatt, Adam Fould, Simon Mawer, and Sarah Waters. Compare that list to this year's:

Howard Jacobson, Tom McCarthy, Emma Donoghue, Peter Carey, Damon Galgut and Andrea Levy.

No comparison.

: Howard Jacobson won the 2010 Man Booker Prize for his novel, The Finkler Question. I've read it. Great!

: Anybody else read it?
