: I'm frustrated. I sent my novel to an agent two months ago and haven't gotten a reply yet. How long do I wait before sending it to another one?

Me too. Given the publishing/agent situation today, there's no right answer. Some agents respond right away, but others take months. How are we supposed to know how long to wait? Some even say if they are going to take months to reply, but they also say if they are not interested they won't reply at all. WHAT??? We are supposed to wait months, but they may not reply at all? Do these people really look at new writers? Sounds like they hate writers and don't want to be bothered. But aren't writers the very ones who provide their income? And weren't all writers beginners at one time? They'd better rethink what they are doing for a living and find another occupation. In the meantime, they should be banned from the business.
